Hyundai Accent: common problems and solutions
Hyundai Accent: common problems and solutions
Research shows that this year’s most sold vehicle is the Hyundai Elantra (-25.8%) with 26.853 units sold, followed by the Toyota Camry (+1.9%) registering 24.783 new sales this year. While the Hyundai Accent was taking the top slot in the past few years, the scenario has changed.
The car has a series of problems, but there are solutions available for most of them. Let’s take a look:
1. Problem: Boot leakage
Many drivers and vehicle owners complain that boot is leaking in the water on the car. If that is the case, then the boot seal is prone to leaking on this car. Signs of leakage include wet stains and/or will have damp carpets.
The quick solution is to replace the boot seal to stop the leak. Alongside, you should also dry out the carpets to avoid any dampness sets in.
2. Problem: engine management
Warning light/rough idling is an issue because the ignition coil is known for failing on the Accent. Keep an eye out if the engine management warning light has appeared on the dashboard. Also, note if you are having problems with the engine misfiring (poor idling), then the ignition coil will be faulty.
To get rid of this problem, you can fit a replacement ignition coil to resolve the issue. Another suggestion is to replace them all at the same time. It’s complicated but can be done. However, if you are unsure, take your car to a mechanic.
3. Problem: Malfunction with electric window problems
In this Riyadh heat, the last thing you want is a window that is not a functioning problem. The electric windows may seem very hesitant in going up and down. A faulty window regulator usually causes this. In most cases, people notice that the windows are opening/closing very slowly. They could also get stuck, which is a menace to drive.
You can replace the window regulator to sort this problem. There is a replacement window regulator available in the market. You can visit a dealer or a local car shop to get the same done.
4. Problem: Wing mirrors rusting
Even in the dry heat of Riyadh, the wing mirrors on the Accent are prone to rust. As per how bad the rusting on the wind is on, or around the wing mirror, you need to decide on the next court of action to resolve the problem. If the rusting is not that bad, give a touch-up using paint and you are done. But if the rust is bad and has spread, you will need to cut out the bad patch, weld a new patch on and paint with the correct paint.
These are small issues with the Accent that can be easily fixed without spending too much. On the whole, it’s a great car for the price in terms of fuel efficiency, features and interiors.
